One night 9 hour session. At 3 am I stared at the computer completely dumbfounded. I had a final table stack in the 15k 10r on tilt and 10 6 person on stars. Out 27th in tilt 10r and 7 (FT bubble in 6 max). 9 hour session down ~200. Makeup around 2.4k. If this was 3 yeas ago I would have won borh tables in full domination.

My wife has lost her job next year and woke up this morning expecting that i had won both tournies.

She said, Why didn't you win? Why ae you playing? Your always used to win....

Hm. So Far... This Year Poker-wise

Two pictures of this year so far. I have spent this year trying to get ,y back back to where is was June of 2007 where I profited 50k solely from MTT's.

Huge Mistake. Have I been working on my game? Am i as mentally fresh? Have the other players improved their game?

What does a negative ROI look like?

Check the two pictures. I got it for 2010. My lifetime MTT ROI is still over 60% but does that matter.....?

1. It means that I am a winning player.

2. I am not currently playing like a winning player?

What is missing? I think it is a matter of will and really wanting it. I need to be hungry. I have been settling for short term small edges deep in tournies instead of waiting for better spots to make it into the real money. That is what separate a good player from a great one. I want to be great.

I have serious issues in self image and believe I am destined to be great at anything I apply myself to.

I personally need to finish February as a +ROI player for the year. This is the goal.

1. Lose Between 20-25 pounds. I currently weigh 193 pounds and I would be very comfortable around the 165-170 range.

2. Drink and Hurt myself less. This includes getting rid of the very occaisional cigerette and really trying to live a truly healthy lifestyle. My brain is tied to my physical well being and I find it harder to make healthy decisions the more I abuse myself.

3. Continue to be the best possible parent and husband I can be! I care and love my wife deeply and am really recommitting myself to our relationship and want it to work.

1. No more tilt. No more giving away my bankroll while drinking and mad at the world and making myself the biggest fish around. I am a tournament and SNG player. I have no business playing cash above .5/1 NL.

I feel like a failed experiemnt in getting backed relaly took my heart of of owning folks at the virtual felt. Last night for 5 hours I was the best player in the tournament 9or I was playing like the best.)

4. Play like I can be the best. Never give up making a loose call rather then outplaying my opponents. Do not leave a cent on the table. Realize I am playing for myself and moreso making my family life better.

After diluging myself in poker blogs, poker news and day dreams of poker. I just could not shake it. I had to play some poker. Played six tournies. One final table. final tabled the 8 pm PST. $30 with 520 entries. 6th place around 1k. 6 hours later I was falling asleep at the final table. How in the world do you wake up at 6 am, work all day, be a father and a husband, the start playing poker and be focussed at 2:30am trying to close out victory? Wanted to pour coffee but thar would have meant zero sleep and work would have greatly suffered.

I had to withdraw the majority of poker funda off site at the end of march and took on a backing deal so that I could continue to play.

" I start at both steps 4 and 5, I've just been playing these steps while doing schoolwork. I just run PT, and sharkscope people prior to the sit and go. I don't join tables with a bunch of very good regs (though I have by accident).There's alot of scared money in the step 6's and I just abuse that, and I did a bunch of ICM work on SNGPT for these kinds of steps. People tend to crack, and tilt when 3 handed and HU, and I just take advantage of it because I don't care nearly as much as they do.If you're someone starting at step 1 I suggest following a system where you have to have multiple tickets to the next step before you play it. Say you start at step 1 - I'd say have 7 step 2's before you play Step 2, 6 Step 3's, 5 Step 4s, 4 Step 5s, and 3 Step 6s. You'll be far more confident, and you're likely to play much better when the stakes get very high. Also, you yourself should not take the small bubbles into account @ Step 6(0-500,500-1000,1000-1500), they matter a bit, but they are insignificant compared to 1500-12500, and alot of decent SNG players have a hard time disregarding money bubbles almost completely. Perspective and Poker......

So last night I completely imploded in the $300 buy in FTOPS event.

5600 entrants and I go out 754th. What do you do when you throw at least 4oo dollars in the toilet and possibly 200k?

Go outside and kick the dog?

Drink yourself into oblivion?

Yell at your wife and slam at least 76 doors?

My heart was racing....Sadness bursting from my chest. I could feel my old red film of anger moving across my eyes. The ideas of which item to throw are on the forefront of my mind. And what do I see?

My 15th month old daughter is handed to me. She is directly from the bath. She is wrapped in a green towel, as the stem, with a hood shaped as the flower. She giggles, looks me directly in my eyes and snuggles her head into my neck. She doesn’t move for least two minutes.

The SADNESS. The ANGER. The self HATE. Slowly and sweetly drained away. I knew everything was going to be ok. Where is there a place for self hate and deprecation when an embodiment of love is cuddled in your arms for warmth and safety? I could never imagine wanting my daughter to see that darkness.

There is no great measure of yourself as a man or even more so as a person as your image in your children's eyes. More than anything else in my life I have pledged to be a great father. There is no failure. There is no quitting. It has to be a decision to provide unconditional love to your child from the day they are born to the day you die.

I know that my father did and does not know this. I spent a lot of my childhood expecting and wanting this love and got left wanting. I swore to his face I would grow up and be a better father than him. I pledge my life to this.

Poker is a game of perspective. Analyzing where you’re at any given table and not allowing your inner voices effect what you know is the real truth. Put yourself in the best position to win and DO NOT EVER; EVER give up ship when you have just started onto the path to success.

On Sunday I quit myself before the real game even had begun. This is not a decision I would make as a friend, husband, and father. If I am going to ever follow through with my lifelong poker goal of placing a WSOP bracelet around my wrist. This focus, passion and perspective are mandatory.

Taking a Popsicle stick into a gun fight. That's what I did.

Poker is another test of what my potential is. I feel like I have spent my life pushing myself to all the limits I can imagine. Whether it was drugs & gangs as a teenager, being a wandering hippie on gratefull dead or widespread panic tour, or playing in the main event of the world series of poker I have always pushed moments of time.

Longevity, consistency and long-lasting success are my main issues. I tend to find ways to fail. Call it self-destruction, blow-ups or self deprecating behavior. I excel in those moments. I know how to hate myself and make my life as difficult as humanely possible.

Poker tests the self destructive portion of myself more than anything else i have ever experienced. More than drugs or alchohol. I have spewed thousands of dollars away in sitting at 10/20 with a bankroll of 4k. I have registered for 1k sng on stars with a 2k BR and won.

What happens when you place a frustrated drinking man online with 5k at his disposal in front a computer late at night? for me this is my greatest test of wills.

I run good when my momemtum is with me. When it slows down I have reasons to be afraid.

What is consistency and how is it maintained.

I need to build a concrete 25k bankroll to feel comfortable.

I need to play at least 2 events in the world series this year.

I need to pay off all of my families debts so that i don't see that worry and burden on my wifes face.

I Want to be consistently happy.

My greatest challenge each and every moment on felt and beyond exist in that moment of decision.

Do I make the easy decision. Push it in and pray use less brain, don't use skill and knowledge. When skill and knowledge are used in any decision making process and you choose wrong it hurts so much more.

I fear putting all my effort into anything and failing. To lose in that situation hurts me to the core.

There have been a few moments in my life I have exerted maximum effort and made all the right choices and failed. Those moment hurt and haunt me.

Yet, the highs that come from exerting everything and succeeding out weigh the negative. Friday night i put it all aside and played balls out confident and intelligent poker. I folded spot that were tenuous at best and played for first.

There should not be any other place to play for.

i have made a small reload to mt ft account and plan on starting my comeback tomorrow.

I will make an attempt at live blogging.

Ever since my huge run in June/July I have been unable to maintain my composure in most of the areas of my life.

Whether it be communication with my wife or at the poker table I have been walking a certain edge. unable to fully focus and make educated decisions.

All my reads have been anemic. I push for coin flips and decide to put my tourney life at risk when behind.

It is time to rededicate myself to composure and winning.

So there it is. Another deep run in a difficult tourney.

6 hours of playing solid poker to get down to the final three tables and attempt to make a move on the chipleader who has zero chance to fold.

I truly believe I am having some type of mental backlash after the month I had in June.

In June I had no problem closing.

In June I made it to the final three tables 11 times

I win six times.
I placed 4-9th 3 times.
I placed 9-27th 3 times. (one of those being a 14th place finish in the 500k).

There was no premature final table evacuation. :)

These days it is a common occurrence.

I July I have ZERO final tables!

I have 5 finishes between 10-45.
And one finish in 110 in Sunday Million.

I am not showing the mental strength to will myself to victory as I did in June. what does that mean?

How do yo all keep your eye on the prize. In June I had two major driving forces.

1. To play the WSOP I need 30k in profit. (Done)
2. I need to beat Virge in our TLB bet. (Done ***barely).

I need the proper motivation to start off August right?

well last night I was the bubble boy.

It was a rought night at the tables for dear old RUBBA.
tournied I lost before 2nd break.
Full Tilt:
150 + 15 55k G
30 (Rebuy)

Stars:
150 + 15 100k G
20 (rebuy)
10 (rebuy)

so for the night I was - $750 on tournies and ~ -$100 on assorted satellites

well since I am running SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOt....
I should play the incredibly difficult 30k on tilt while ON TILT.

So I Did not make the Final table of the main event.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRr.

PART I.

I can say that I might have had unfair expectations, but it is just like me to think I can sit down at the main event and have no problem going deep.

The main facts I learned was.

I have never played live poker.
Live poker is not a race there is no need to hurry.
I do have the skills to go deep.
There is nothing to be afraid of.

My wife, mother and baby walked me as far as they could towards the amazons room.

The Senator D’Amato came out to speak on behalf of online gambling and the repeal of anti-poker legislation. He spoke well and enthusiastically.

The he uttered the words I had been waiting my life to hear.

“Shuffle Up and Deal”.

I sat down at my fist table and did not recognize anyone. Seat one was empty and then filled by who I believed was john Murphy (ESPN 2005 fame).

I told him he look kinda familiar. He said “It must have been from that episode of Cops I was on.” HAHA.

My daughter is wearing her daddy's girl onsey and I am wearing my proud daddy #1 t-shirt with Hawaiian party shirt over.

I brought long gold chain that was my grandmother's with on which my grandfathers rings hangs upon. My grandfather is the standard too which I base my life the shoes I have always wanted to fit. Today I hope to ring a piece of his fire along with to the tables.

Not only is my table NOT is the outside tent. It is on the rail of spectators with my back directly to the rail.

On Monday July 9th I get to fulfill my dream of playing in the World Series Main Event.

For three years I have stayed up late grinding online tournies and laid in bed fantasizing about hearing the shuffle up and deal and watching the cards fly to initiate the WSOP.

For many reasons this is a benchmark moment for me. I can honestly say that besides my wedding day and the birth of my child this is one of the happiest moments of my life.
There are truly very few things that in life that light up your soul and make you feel more alive then setting a goal and following through.

I am a cocky son of a bitch at times and have more confidence in myself than i probably should.

I WANNA FUCKING WIN.

I WANNA TEST myself in the PREMEIR poker event in the world.

I get to fucking do that on monday. (rubba might cry).
